You will find below explanations of how some procedures are performed. Give us a call or email us if you would like to receive more info about our serivces.
Regular Checkups
To maintain good dental health and to prevent gums disease, your oral hygiene should include brushing 2 to 3 times a day, flossing daily, limiting sweets, and visiting your dentist regularly. We recommend six-month checkups to have your teeth cleaned professionally to remove plague buildup, ensure detection of cavities and prevent early onset of gums disease.
Sealants
Dental sealants, also known as pit or fissure sealants, are usually applied to the chewing surface of the back teeth (molars). The sealants are bonded to the tooth enamel. They act as a barrier against plague and acids which cause tooth decay. This procedure is most effective when performed soon after the adult tooth has erupted.
Root Canal Treatment
When a tooth is badly infected and absessed due to an injury or decay, it is possible to save it by performing root canal treatment. An opening is made in your tooth to remove the infected pulp. During the procedure, the nerves are removed and the canals are cleaned and sealed. Following root canal therapy, a temporary or permanent filling is placed on the tooth. We also recommend restoring the tooth with a crown to support the remaining tooth structure.
Crowns
When a tooth has been damaged by decay or through an accident, instead of removing the tooth, it may be possible to fit a crown or cap over the remaining tooth to protect it from further deterioration. Under local anesthetic, the tooth is reduced in size to the same thickness as the final crown. A temporary crown is placed before the final crown is cemented.
Bridges
Dental Implants
A fixed bridge is a non-removable replacement applicance that is cemented to supporting teeth next to the spaces where teeth are missing. The supporting teeth on either side of the lost tooth/teeth are reduced in size for crowns. A unit consisting of the false tooth (teeth) and supporting crowns on either side is custom made by a dental lab to fill the area where the tooth/teeth is/are missing. The applicance is then cemented in place.
Dental implants are made by surgically placing one or more titanium posts into the jawbone. A waiting period of 3 to 6 months is usually required to allow healing. Implants are biologically integrated with the surrounding bone and serve as anchors to which replacement teeth can be attached. They can be used to replace single or multiple teeth, and to support removable dentures or non-removable bridges,
Dentures
A removable denture can be partial or complete to replace some or all teeth. A partial denture is held in place by clasping on to supporting teeth. Complete dentures stay by suction. Implants can be used as a combined treatment.
Fillings
We use only white resin restorative materials for fillings to repair teeth which have been compromised due to cavities or trauma. The latest generation of composite resin materials provide both strength and esthetics like never before.
